TMJ Therapy
An estimated 10 million Americans suffer from TMJ dysfunction. While the exact cause is debated, the result can be chronic headaches and migraines, jaw and facial pain, and even back and neck pain. Dr. Rothenberger uses proven methods to realign malfunctioning jaw joints and eliminate TMJ-related discomfort.
“TMJ” is an acronym for temporomandibular joint. You have two of them, located in front of your ears, where your jaw meets your skull. These joints are highly complex and very sensitive to external triggers. Changes in eating habits, increased stress, and dental work can all affect your TMJ. If your jaw clicks, pops, or locks, this may be a sign of TMJ dysfunction.
Dr. Rothenberger uses advanced methods to diagnose TMJ dysfunction. We have a Panorex CMT D300 at our office, which allows us to X-ray the jaw joint. This gives Dr. Rothenberger vital information that will help him customize the right treatment for you. TMJ treatment may involve an oral appliance worn at night, similar to a nightguard, stress management, orthotic to realign your teeth, or orthodontics.
